Medicare Rebates

At Brisbane Wellbeing Psychologists’, our Clinical and General Psychologists’ are registered with Medicare. Although you do not need a referral to make an appointment with any of our psychologists, a referral from your GP will allow you to claim Medicare Rebates.

To enquire whether you are eligible to receive Medicare rebates you will need to book an appointment with your GP, who will assess your needs and goals and refer you to a Psychologist under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).

Clients referred under a MHCP will be entitled to the following:

  • up to 10 individual sessions claimable per calendar year (as per the recent changes by the Federal Government)
  • $137.05 rebate per session with a Clinical Psychologist
  • $93.35 per session with a Registered Psychologist.

At the end of your appointment, we require the full session fee. Once processed, we will process your Medicare claim online for you, in which the rebate will be deposited into your nominated account with Medicare.

Unfortunately Medicare rebates are not applicable for Provisional Psychologists and Psychotherapists.
