PSYCHOLOGIST APPOINTMENTS

What is the difference between a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Provisional Psychologist and a Psychotherapist?

The training pathway and accreditation for psychologists require a university undergraduate and a postgraduate degree. Psychologists have strict levels of regulation under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

A Clinical Psychologist has completed a minimum of 6 years of university training, plus an additional year as a Clinical Registrar in practice.

Provisional Psychologists have completed their formal education but are newer to working in a therapy context. Provisional Psychologists often have had previous extensive careers that have given valuable experience in working with people.

Psychotherapists have a different level of regulation and training pathways than Psychologists. This is why at Brisbane Wellbeing Psychologists”, it is essential to ensure our clients are placed with clinicians with adequate training and experience. We have three wonderful Psychotherapists, Christine Marsden, Scott Lacey and Bina Shah. They have both come from long and extensive careers in corporate roles. This has given them a unique experience with managing different personalities and requiring the need to develop conflict management and relationship attunement skills.

Brisbane Wellbeing Clinic Psychologists have been chosen for their levels of warmth, caring, and expertise to assist you through challenging life situations or to provide ongoing wellbeing support to help boost your coping and clear your mind when faced with demanding work, family or health situations.
